Cal/OSHA to Increase Inspections: Be Prepared

This year, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health will conduct an expected 41,000 inspections of employers, up 6.5 percent from 2010-2011. Not only is the agency increasing the number of inspections, but it is also focusing its attention on the types and severity of violations. 

Cal/OSHA will be looking for three types of violations. They come with penalties:

On March 26, 2012, the Supreme Court began its historic three day review of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act commonly referred to “Obamacare” or “PPACA.” The primary issue to be determined by the court is whether the individual mandate, the requirement forcing most individuals to purchase insurance or pay a financial penalty, is unconstitutional.

Cal/OSHA Launches Heat Illness Campaign in Bakersfield

The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced the launch of a campaign to prevent heat illness from its new District Office in Bakersfield. The campaign will involve coordinated statewide inspections, local inspections during high-temperature weather, trainings and presentations to employer and worker organizations, as well as media outreach, according to a press release
