New Requirements for Workers’ Comp Take Effect October 8
New regulations take effect October 8, 2010 and place requirements on employers regarding workers’ compensation coverage, including:
-All employers must post a notice in a common location regarding work injuries. The notice is called "Notice to Employees-Injuries Caused by Work." Both English and Spanish versions must be posted if you employ Spanish speaking employees. Click here to access the form DWC-7.
-A MPN (Medical Provider Network) Notice must be posted as well to notify employees if your company uses a MPN network for workers’ compensation claims. Each insurance carrier will have its own MPN; thus the MPN notice will be different for each insurance company. Western Growers Insurance Services will provide its policy holders with this notice. If you are not a WG Insurance Services policy holder and have not received the revised forms and posting notices, contact your insurance company or insurance broker immediately to secure the required forms to be posted. Failure to have the notices posted as required by the new regulations could result in fines and civil penalties of up to $7,000.
If an employer has multiple locations, the notices need to be posted in a conspicuous spot in each location.
Western Growers Insurance Services works with a wide range of workers’ compensation carriers and can provide competitive coverage options as well as extensive assistance to clients including claims management and loss control services. Please contact us for more information.
